Council Districts Demographics and Maps Library
The City of Austin has undergone a truly historic political transformation as it now elects City Council members from individual districts rather than at-large. Riding a wave of suburban populism, voters in Austin decisively put an end to the Gentlemen's Agreement, brought geographic representation to Austin and elected a City Council that is now more representative of the City it serves.
The collection of data and maps on this page attempts to illustrate the enormous amount of structural and spatial variation among the districts in terms of demographic character, socio-economic fundamentals and even political persuasion and voting behavior.
