It pays to conserve
Austin Water has a five-tier volume charge. The zero –2,000 gallon tier is the lowest and most affordable with the following tiers being progressively more expensive as water consumption increases beyond 2,000, 6,000, 11,000 and 20,000 gallons per month. The more you use, the more you pay per (1,000) gallon. However, the more you conserve, the more you save!
Conserve water as much as possible and keep your water consumption at the lowest possible tier, saving you the most amount of money.

Apply for financial assistance
Austin Water has been engaged in multi-yearlong efforts to improve the customer experience and affordability. One of the newest changes were to the Utility Service Regulations which provide additional relief to customers who experience unexpected high-water bills. Improvements are also being made to the Customer Assistance Program for low-income residents.
Don't block the meter box
Did you know that some water meters may not be read because of obstructions such as trash and vegetation growing around the meters or due to vehicles blocking access to the meter? Providing a safe and unobstructed path to the meter box will ensure an accurate read and keep those savings rolling in every month.
