Austin Water is dedicated to providing reliable, affordable service for our customers. If your water bill seems higher than usual, here are some steps to help you understand your usage and find options that work for you:
If your bill is still higher than expected after taking these steps, contact Austin Water Customer Service at 512-494-9400 for a review of your usage.
Assistance and Resources
Water Leak Bill Adjustment
To request a water leak bill adjustment under City of Austin Code 15-9-141, submit the following within 90 days of the leak repair:
- A copy of the leak repair receipt or paid invoice describing the repair
- Your Austin Water account number
- The property address where the repair took place
- The date range of high bill charges caused by the leak
- The date and description of the repair

Note: Customers who receive a water leak bill adjustment may not request an administrative hearing under Chapter 15, Article 12 for the same billing period.
Non-Leak High Water Bill Adjustment
To be eligible for a non-leak high water bill adjustment under City of Austin Code 15-9-142, you must:
- Be a single-family residential customer with at least four months of water billing history at the service address, in addition to the disputed period
- Not have received an adjustment in the past two years
- Have been billed for water usage at least three times your expected volume
If eligible, the charges above your expected volume will be credited to your account. Complete and submit the High Volume Water Bill Adjustment Application (PDF) within 90 days of the high-use bill.
Note: Customers who receive a non-leak high water bill adjustment may not request an administrative hearing under Chapter 15, Article 12 for the same billing period.
