Project Overview

The Great Hills Lift Station, located at 9009-1/2 Spicebush Drive, has outlived its expected useful life. This lift station is located in an environmentally sensitive region, and it is important to rehabilitate this facility as we create a strong water infrastructure system for a sustainable future.

Lift stations are used in Austin Water’s wastewater collection system to pump wastewater in areas where it cannot flow using gravity.

Through the Great Hills Lift Station Improvements Project, Austin Water will rehabilitate one of the existing wet wells, construct an additional wet well, install a new valve vault, and upgrade mechanical and electrical equipment.

Rehabilitating this lift station was identified as a high priority in the Winter Storm Uri After Action Report.

Timeline

Construction for the Great Hills Lift Station Improvements Project is expected to begin in the fall of 2024 and take approximately 30 months to complete.

What to Expect During Construction

While construction will be contained in City of Austin property and easements, residents will notice additional traffic and some noise during construction activities. We appreciate your understanding while we make these improvements to your utility services.
