The Glenlake Pump Station Bypass Improvements Project will install about 1,000 linear feet of new water line and will decommission the existing pump station and water tanks located at 9809 Glenlake Dr., among other improvements.

The project will improve reliability of water service in this area by creating “looping” in the water pipelines, eliminating the need for the pump station, and installing fire hydrants to enhance fire protection. Austin Water partners with Austin Public Works whose project management staff supervises construction.

Timeline

Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2024 on a combined project that includes Glenlake Pump Station and two additional projects.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How will access be maintained for emergency vehicles?

A: At least one lane of traffic will remain open and there will be flagging operations allowing vehicles to pass safely.

Q: Will the emergency access road between Glenlake Dr. and Narrow Ridge Dr. remain open?

A: Yes.

Q: Will you be closing streets?

A: We will be closing lanes of traffic, but not entire streets.  You will always have access to your home - for brief periods, driveway access may be limited.

Q: What are the working hours? Which days?

A: The work days are generally Monday through Saturday, though some Sundays may be required. The work hours are generally 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Narrow Ridge Drive and 911 Driveway. Work hours at Glenlake Dr are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Monday- Friday) and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (weekend).

Q: Will my water be turned off?

A: Yes, at some point water for some customers will be turned off, but most likely just for a few hours. We will notify you via flyers posted on the door, prior to turning off the water. In rare cases, an emergency may cause water to be turned off without notice. We will do our best to avoid this.

Q: What are your plans for repaving the streets?

A: We will repair trenches during construction of the utility lines. Following completion of all work on all streets, pavement will be restored. All streets will be milled/overlaid with a new asphalt surface.
