Austin Water's Incident Management Team and Ullrich Water Treatment Plant staff will participate in a drill to practice emergency protocols.
AUSTIN, TX – Austin Water will conduct an emergency drill on Wednesday, June 21 from 7 a.m. until noon. The public will see emergency vehicles from Austin Fire Department and Travis County ESD #9 in the area surrounding Ullrich Water Treatment Plant, located at 1000 Forest View Dr, Austin, TX 78746. Some vehicles and crews participating in the drill will park along Forest View Dr adjacent to the plant.
This emergency drill is part of Austin Water’s emergency preparedness program and builds on recommendations from recent after-action reviews. Staff at Ullrich Water Treatment Plant will participate in the drill to practice their emergency protocols, and Austin Water’s Incident Management Team will conduct a practice activation of the Department Operations Center.
Austin Water is partnering with the Austin Fire Department, Travis County ESD #9 and Travis County STAR Flight on this exercise. The practice scenario allows these entities to practice cross-department communication and to work through operational scenarios to respond to a potential future emergency.
“Austin Water is working to strengthen our emergency protocols and this drill provides an opportunity to practice with our partners to become even more prepared for future emergencies,” Austin Water Director Shay Ralls Roalson.
