Pipeline technicians excavate a worksite.

As part of the Renewing Austin program, Austin Water is bringing improvements to the wastewater system in the Westgate neighborhood. Austin Water has documented a number of overflows in this area, and new lines will help us conserve water, improve reliability for customers, and reduce expenditures on frequently breaking lines.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The project will take place in the parts of the Williamson Creek Basin that sit in the Westgate, Franklin Park, and South Creek neighborhoods. We will rehabilitate 12,300 linear feet of wastewater lines and 1,050 linear feet of water lines. The Watershed Protection Department will rehabilitate 200 linear feet of stormwater line during this project as well.

We will partner with the City of Austin’s Capital Delivery Services (CDS) Division for the construction phase of this project, which will be managed by CDS project management staff.

TIMELINE

Construction is scheduled to begin in late August and take approximately nineteen months to complete. Asphalt disturbed by construction during this project will be repaved when the entire project is complete.
