The purpose of the Greater Austin/Travis County Regional Radio System (GATRRS) is to provide highly reliable voice radio communications for public safety and public service organizations in Austin and Travis County. GATRRS is a partnership of the City of Austin (managing partner), Travis County, The University of Texas at Austin and the Austin Independent School District.
Composition:
Governing Board – GATRRS is overseen by the GATRRS Governing Board which sets policy and budget for GATRRS. The GATRRS Governing Board has four members, one from each of the partners (City of Austin, Travis County, University of Texas at Austin, and Austin ISD). Each Governing Board member is a senior executive level employee of their entity. GATRRS Governing Board members may designate in writing an individual to act in their place.
Operating Board – The Operating Board provides overall direction to the GATRRS system and makes recommendations to the Governing Board. The Operating Board consists of six (6) members from the City, four (4) members from Travis County, one (1) member from AISD, and one (1) member from UT. Operating Board members may designate in writing an alternate to act in their place. Members of the Operating Board are invited to attend Governing Board Meetings. The Operating Board no longer meets separately from the Governing Board.
