Attending a City Council meeting or contacting your representative are only a couple of ways to impact your local government. The City of Austin provides some alternative ways to participate. 

The Texas Public Information Act (Texas Government Code, Chapter 552), gives you the right to access government records. Request City records here.

Get quick access to a number of departments and services that you can pay online. 

If you would like to have a Code inspector or speaker attend your neighborhood association meeting or community event, please complete our online form at least one week prior to the event.

Call 3-1-1 to report flooding, erosion and other drainage problems such as debris blocking the flow of water in a creek, a clogged inlet or culvert, standing water in a pond (for more than 72 hours) or high vegetation.

Are you a homeowner, resident, large or small business owner, or a property manager? Austin Energy offers rebates and incentives that help lower bills and increase energy savings.

Businesses and individuals doing business with the City need to file conflict of interest questionnaires with the City Clerk's office when a relevant conflict exists. The filed forms are online for public access.

Search for official Council meeting records and Council-approved documents by keyword, including records of special-called Council meetings and meetings of the Austin Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC), Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Boards, and Mueller Local Government Corporation (MLGC).

The City Clerk will post public notices, including Rule Postings, Election Notices, Firefighter, Police Officer, and EMS Personnel Civil Service Commission Notices, and other public notices.

The City Clerk's office provides a database of candidates and voting statistics for the City's elections from 1840 to the present. You may access it by candidate name or election date.

The City is pleased to recognize the people, programs, and events that make Austin unique by issuing proclamations and other recognitions. NOTE:  Requests made through the Proclamation and Recognition Request Form are for recognitions by the City of Austin mayor, not the State of Texas and its governor. Go to the Office of the Texas Governor's I Need Assistance form to request proclamations from the State of Texas (select "Ceremonial Items" in the Issue field).

Lobbyists must register with the City Clerk’s office. The office keeps a list of all registered lobbyists and their clients available for public use.
