Integrated Pest Management

Integrated Pest Management is a practical, eco-friendly approach to managing pests. It involves regularly checking your landscape, identifying issues correctly, evaluating the severity, and choosing the least-toxic solution.

Pest Information

For a practical, eco-friendly approach to managing pests, try using Integrated Pest Management.

  1. Practice Grow Green techniques for a healthy landscape: A healthy, well-adapted landscape is less prone to pest problems! Plant native and well-adapted, pest-resistant plant varieties, and keep them healthy. Visit GrowGreen.org for more information.
  2. Diagnose problems correctly and evaluate their severity: Accurately diagnose problems before considering any treatment. Keep in mind that 95% of insects are not pests and some are helpful. Don’t kill every bug.
  3. Choose the least-toxic solution: Try removing insects by hand or blasting them with water. Traps and barriers may also be effective. Use pesticides as a last resort. Choose the least toxic product and always read and follow the directions on the label. It’s important not to apply fertilizer or pesticides before a rain.
