- Diagnose problems correctly and evaluate their severity: Accurately diagnose problems before considering any treatment. Keep in mind that 95% of insects are not pests and some are helpful. Don’t kill every bug.
- Choose the least-toxic solution: Try removing insects by hand or blasting them with water. Traps and barriers may also be effective. Use pesticides as a last resort. Choose the least toxic product and always read and follow the directions on the label. It’s important not to apply fertilizer or pesticides before a rain.
