On Saturday, December 20, 2025, at approximately 3:36 a.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a crash that involved an SUV and a tow truck in the 8400 block of East US Highway 290, westbound lanes. The driver of the SUV, Jordan Adkins, was traveling with an unidentified female passenger. The unidentified female passenger was pronounced deceased on scene. Both drivers remained on scene.
Adkins was arrested and charged with Intoxication Manslaughter.
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 89th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 93 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2024, 91 fatal crashes resulted in 97 deaths.
