Victim (Deceased):       Elias Mejia, Hispanic male, 7/20/1974

On Sunday, December 28, 2025, at 9:21 a.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to the call of an unresponsive male in a parked vehicle in the 700 block of West William Cannon Drive. When officers arrived on the scene, they located the male, later identified as Elias Mejia, who was not breathing. Unfortunately, Mr. Mejia was pronounced deceased several minutes later.  

The investigation is still in the very early stages, but investigators believe the victim was shot by an unknown suspect who remains at large. Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance to identify any witnesses and suspects that may have been in the area between the hours of 12 a.m. and 9:21 a.m. on December 28, 2025. Please review any installed video surveillance systems that may have captured any video or audio of this incident.
