Description: The playscape at Springdale Neighborhood Park is closed until further notice due to vandalism.
Joan Means Khabele Bathhouse Rehabilitation at Barton Springs Pool
Date of closure: February 15, 2024—TBA
Description: Closed for construction starting on February 15, 2024 with substantial completion anticipated in spring 2025. As with any construction project, schedules may change as the work progresses. Temporary restroom and shower facilities will be provided next to the bathhouse while it is under construction.
Pedestrian Bridge at Roy G. Guerrero Colorado River Metropolitan Park

Description: The pedestrian bridge is closed due to flood damage until further notice.
Dick Nichols Park Beckett Meadows Pond Rehabilitation
Date of work: Fall 2024—2025
Description: Repair work on the Beckett Meadows stormwater control pond (work duration approximately 6 months).
Bartholomew Park - 5-12 Playscape

Description: The Bartholomew Park 5-12 Playscape is closed for maintenance until further notice.
Davis White Park - Entrance

Description: Drainage repair work to the Davis White Park entrance will take place Monday, August 18, 2025, through Friday, August 22, 2025. The park will remain open during the work.
Zilker Park - Great Lawn
Date of work: August 21, 2025—August 22, 202
Description: Portions of the Great Lawn at Zilker Park will be closed intermittently for a fertilizer application from 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 21, 2025, through Friday, August 22, 2025. Lou Neff Rd, will remain open. We request that patrons avoid equipment in use, and follow any directions given by Austin Parks and Recreation staff.

Shoal Creek Trail (24th to 29th along N. Lamar)
Date of closure: Closed Indefinitely
Description: Damaged by landslide. Austin Parks and Recreation Department is working with Public Works and the Austin Transportation Department to plan, design and implement improvements to the trail detour route east of the creek.
Trail Access Closed at Willow Street
Date of closure: September, 2021—2026
Description: Trail access at Willow Street is temporarily closed due to construction. See map for the nearest trail access point. The trail access will be closed throughout construction of 98 Red River for an approximate duration of 64 months.
Roy and Ann Butler Hike and Bike Trail Detour at the Wishbone Bridge/Longhorn Dam
Date of detour: July 15, 2024—January 2026
Description: The Wishbone Bridge/Longhorn Dam construction project begins July 1, 2024. The construction project will involve a detour route for pedestrians and cyclists. The project time line is July 1, 2024 – construction begins, July 8, 2024 – Closures start, July 15, 2024 – Trail detour begins, January 2026 (approximately 18 months) – Detour ends.

Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail Detour along Barton Creek Streambank
Date of detour: November 4, 2024—Summer 2025
Description: Beginning Monday, January 27, 2025, there is a trail detour along Barton Creek rerouting trail users through Toomey Rd. and baseball diamonds. The Watershed Protection Department is managing a project to repair the Barton Creek streambank failure that occurred in May 2018 during a flooding event. The streambank repair began in early November 4, 2024 and is expected to continue until Summer 2025.
Waller Creek Greenbelt (5th St. and 6th St.)
Date of closure: June 5, 2025—TBD
Description: Waller Creek Greenbelt trail is closed between 5th St. and 6th St. due to a fallen tree. Trail users will be redirected on to the sidewalk at Sabine Street while the tree is removed.
Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail - Lou Neff Point Observation Deck
Date of closure: June 25, 2025—November 2025
Description: Lou Neff Point Observation Deck is closed for repair work to the observation deck foundation, wall, and bank. The observation deck is expected to reopen in August 2025.
Shoal Creek Trail - 38th St. Bridge to Seider Springs
Date of Closure: July 8, 2025—August 2025
Description: The Shoal Creek Trail will be closed to repair erosion control and creek embankment work from Tuesday, July 8, 2025, into August 2025.
Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail - South Shore Detour Between S. First and S. Congress
Date of detour: August 4, 2025—August 2025
Description: Beginning Monday, August 4, 2025, there is a minor Trail detour between South First Street and South Congress Avenue lasting approximately 2 week. The trail detour s due to the One Lady Bird Lake project construction. Please slow down in this area and use caution.
Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail - North Shore West of the "Holiday Inn" Boat Ramp
Date of work: August 25, 2025—August 29, 2025
Description: Beginning Monday, August 25, 2025, through Friday, August 29, 2025, TxDOT crews will be trimming and removing trees along the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail, west of the Holiday Inn boat ramp. Operations will be between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., nightly to ensure that the trail is operational during daytime hours. These activities are to help facilitate the building a future dock, which construction is anticipated to begin in fall 2025. All work will be within TxDOT's right-of-way.

ROAD/PARKING LOT CLOSURES
Barton Springs Pool, North Parking Lot

Description: Starting on Thursday, February 15, public parking on the north side of Barton Springs Pool will not be available, and William Barton Drive will be limited to emergency vehicles and construction deliveries. Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail, North Shore Parking Lot Underneath I-35 Bridges
Date of closure: August 10, 2025—TBD
Description: The north shore parking lot underneath the I-35 bridges and area next to the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail will close on Sunday, August 10, 2025, due to work on TxDOT's I-35 Capital Express Central project. The project, led and managed by TxDOT, is currently slated to be completed in 2033.
PARTIAL CLOSURE
Boat Ramps at Lake Walter E. Long
Date of closure: October 16, 2024—TBD
Description: The boat ramps at Lake Walter E. Long are closed until further notice as water levels levels are too low for boaters to safely enter and exit the lake. Lake access will remain available for shore-launched watercraft such as canoes and kayaks. All other park amenities, including volleyball courts, picnic sites, grills, and walking trails, will remain available. Austin Energy will be upgrading Decker Dam's nearly 60-year-old infrastructure. In preparation for upcoming equipment upgrades, the lake level will be gradually lowered through natural evaporation and the boat ramps will remain closed for the duration of the project for the safety of boaters. The boat ramps will reopen when water levels once again allow boaters to safely enter and exit. For more information on the repairs to Decker Dam, visit PublicInput.com/DeckerDam.
