The Austin Transportation Department (ATD) is seeking to better understand the safety and mobility needs for people using Cameron Road (51st Street to Rundberg Lane) and Dessau Road (Rundberg Lane to Parmer Lane). ATD will host a listening session starting on Tuesday November 5th with community open house meeting at the Gustavo “Gus” Garcia Recreation Center from 6-7pm. Information shared at this meeting will be made available online at this website along with an online survey. Feedback will be welcome through December 3rd, 2019. Public input will be used to evaluate opportunities for improvements and to bring a proposal back to the community in early 2020.

Project Background

Cameron Road and Dessau Road between 51st Street and Parmer Lane provides access to the Walnut Creek Greenbelt, many commercial and industrial centers, jobs, schools, recreational centers and neighborhoods of north east Austin. Concerns for the mobility and safety of all street users has been identified through the Pedestrian Safety Action Plan citywide planning process, the Vision Zero Input Tool and the Walk and Bike Talks bikeway network prioritization process. ATD is initiating a listening session to better understand concerns that may be addressed with near-term solutions made possible through the 2016 Mobility Bond and 2018 Pedestrian Crossing program resources.
