Covered outdoor water faucet to prevent water line freeze.

Information, demonstrations and giveaway items offered at Customer Service Centers Dec. 10-11.

Austin Energy, Austin Water, Austin Resource Recovery, Austin Watershed Protection and the City of Austin Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management are joining forces this winter to help customers with emergency preparedness, efficiency and sustainability.
 
Information, demonstrations and giveaway items will be offered at the City of Austin Utilities Customer Service Centers (north and south locations) Dec. 10 and 11. Meter keys, hose bib covers, hand-crank flashlights, solar-powered device chargers, emergency preparedness kit materials and winter preparedness tip sheets will be provided by the city. Customers can:

  • Learn how to stay safe during a power outage and get a free solar phone charger from Austin Energy.
  • Get a free water shutoff key or insulated faucet cover from Austin Water to help you prepare for freezing temperatures and avoid property damage.
  • Get ideas for dealing with winter emergencies from the Austin Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and start building your emergency preparedness kit.

Quantities are limited, so customers are encouraged to arrive early.
