City's Homeless Strategy Office isues a Request for Proposals to enhance resources available for people at risk or already experiencing homelessness.
The City of Austin's Homeless Strategy Office (HSO) is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) to enhance resources available to individuals at imminent risk of homelessness and those already experiencing homelessness. The RFP will go live at 4pm today (4/11/24).
Nearly $2 million will be awarded to a qualified service provider to provide online and phone-based resources that can help individuals resolve their housing crisis. HSO’s funds could also be used to offer one-time financial assistance along with counseling to help households avoid homelessness or quickly be rehoused if they are homeless.
“Providing individuals and families with critical information at their fingertips might be the difference between remaining housed or slipping into homelessness,” said David Gray, City of Austin Homeless Strategy Officer. “Furthermore, coupling one-time financial aid with counseling prevents long-term homelessness by addressing the root causes of one’s housing instability. That is why we structured this funding to ensure individuals and families are equipped with the tools, resources, and support they need to achieve long-term stability and independence."
HSO believes this contract will reduce barriers for people at risk or experiencing homelessness, making it easier to access essential information from anywhere within Austin’s city limits. Currently, many people at-risk of homelessness or experiencing literal homelessness must travel to a brick-and-mortar navigation center, house of worship or non-profit organization for support and resources.
The total funding available through this solicitation is $1,917,060. The agreement between HSO and the selected service provider is anticipated to begin on August 1, 2024, and extend through September 30, 2026.
Applications for this RFP open today. Proposals must be submitted in the City of Austin’s PartnerGrants Database by 3p.m. on May 22. Full eligibility requirements and application details are available through the PartnerGrants Database.
