The Communications & Technology Management Department (CTM) supports the following services used by City residents and City departments:

Address Management Services: The Address Management Services team is the addressing authority for the City of Austin. Visit this site to request an address verification letter, request a new address, or other addressing services.

Austin Build + Connect (AB+C): The City's online portal that allows registered users to apply for some permits, schedule inspections, pay fees, upload project attachments, and more.

ChatBots: If you’ve used a virtual assistant on AustinTexas.gov, you’ve interacted with a ChatBot supported by CTM. See an example of ChatBots in action on the Address Management Services page.

GAATN: The Greater Austin Area Telecommunications Network (GAATN), formed in 1993 by an interlocal agreement, is a joint effort of local entities to construct and maintain a fiber-optic network to provide the foundation for our partners' electronic communications. The GAATN network consists of over 350 miles of fiber optic cable, connecting more than 500 partner sites.

GATRRS: The Greater Austin-Travis County Regional Radio System (GATRRS) is a radio network managed by the City of Austin in partnership with local and regional entities. Its purpose is to provide highly reliable voice communications for public safety and public service organizations.

Open Data Portal: Austin Open Data portal is a public data-sharing site for residents, community members and anyone interested in accessing and using the City’s data.

Virtual Reality Tours: CTM provides the technology support to create virtual reality tours for our partner departments across the City. Examples include a virtual reality tour of the Asian American Resource Center, a virtual reality tour of the Carver Museum, and more!
