- Summer Program Registration Postponement

January 28, 2021
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Thank you for choosing the Austin Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) Aquatic Division as your provider for aquatic programming. Typically, PARD begins aquatic programming registration in April. At this time, there is uncertainty as it relates to a timeframe for the safe return to typical recreation programming. While the distribution of a COVID-19 vaccine continues to evolve and provide hope for the future, the unknown length of the local Stage 5 risk declaration provides uncertainty as it relates to aquatics program planning. Our goal is that with improvements in conditions, PARD will once again be able to offer in-person programs safely in the near future.
At this time, PARD has not determined new registration dates for programs. We will notify you when registration dates are set, and we have determined which programs and services we can safely offer during summer 2021. PARD will continue to work closely with state and local health authorities to carefully make operational decisions to ensure both the health and safety of campers, families, and our employees.
Please know PARD’s continued consultation with state and local health authorities will determine a suitable time to resume operations and we look forward to seeing you when the conditions are improved. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this postponement, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for doing your part to help keep our community safe, and for supporting one another as we navigate this historic moment together. For specific actions you can personally take to protect yourself, your family and community please visit AustinTexas.gov/COVID19.
