Develop recommendations to ensure that all City parks, but most particularly Auditorium Shores, Zilker Park, and Festival Beach, remain first and foremost assets for the citizens of Austin.
Advises on acquisition, development, improvement, equipment, and maintenance of city parks and public playgrounds.
To make and amend a master plan, recommend approval or disapproval of proposed zoning changes and control land subdivision within neighborhood planning areas and submit, annually, a list of recommended capital improvements.
Advisory body to the city council on all budgetary and policy matters concerning public safety, including matters related to the Austin Police Department, the Austin Fire Department, and the Austin/Travis County Emergency Medical Services Department.
Shall make determinations on requested modifications of certain residential design standards for specific developments, as prescribed in Chapter 25-2, Subchapter F (Residential Design and Compatibility Standards). See Section 2-1-167 of the City Code
Advise the city council in developing and reviewing city plans and programs in the area of alternative energy technologies, renewable energy sources and on energy and water conservation.
Advise the city council on implementation of the Robert Mueller Municipal Airport Master Plan and other redevelopment issues at Robert Mueller Municipal Airport.
Hear and decide a request for variance from the requirements of Chapter 25-10 (Sign Regulations); exercise the powers to revoke or suspend a sign registration under Section 25-10-236 (Revocation and Suspension); and advise the Council.
Advise the Council on issues surrounding planning and zoning in areas such as downtown, corridors and centers, neighborhoods, the waterfront, planned unit developments, and transit oriented developments.
