The Recycle and Reuse Drop-off Center is open by appointment only.
At the Recycle and Reuse Drop-off Center, you can drop off many items to be recycled, reused or safely discarded. You can also pick up free items to reuse yourself.
Schedule an appointment to drop off or pick up items
Austin/Travis County residents can schedule an appointment to visit the center through the Austin Recycles mobile app or online. To see whether we accept an item, use the What Do I Do With?... tool.
Look up your appointment details
Having trouble remembering when your appointment is? Find your confirmation email which includes details about your drop-off appointment. You can also look up your drop-off appointment in the Austin Recycles app calendar or online by adding the home address associated with your appointment.
Change or cancel an appointment
Appointments cannot be changed after they have been scheduled. You will need to cancel your appointment if your scheduled date no longer works. After canceling, you would need to schedule a new appointment.
You will need to cancel your appointment through the same method that you scheduled the appointment. For example, if you scheduled the appointment through the Austin Recycles app, you would need to cancel the appointment on the app. If you scheduled the appointment through the My Schedule website, you would need to cancel the appointment on the website. You can also cancel your appointment by clicking on the link in your appointment confirmation email. Call 3-1-1 if you are having difficulty canceling an appointment.

- Free for Austin and Travis County residents.
- Fees apply for tire drop-off.
- Fees apply if you do not live in Austin or Travis County.
- Businesses are not eligible to drop off hazardous waste. For information about how businesses can dispose of hazardous waste, call 512-974-4335.

Household hazardous waste
Drop off your household hazardous waste for safe disposal or reuse. Throwing household hazardous waste in the trash or pouring it down the drain is dangerous and harmful to the environment.
Accepted household hazardous waste items:
- Aerosol cans
- Automotive fluids and oil filters
- Batteries (car and household)
- Cleaning products
- Cooking oil
- Fluorescent light bulbs
- Mercury
- Paint and thinners
- Pesticides and herbicides
- Pool chemicals
- Propane cylinders
Not accepted household hazardous waste items:
- Any waste generated by a business
- Explosive materials (including ammunition)
- Radioactive Materials
- Syringes and medical waste
Safety guidelines for household hazardous waste
- Bring products in original containers; do not mix.
- Bring items in 5-gallon (or smaller) containers.
- Put small containers upright in sturdy boxes.
- If something is leaking, put it in a container and absorb the spill with cat litter.
- Do not bring items in a trash bag. Containers can get damaged and their contents may mix, causing a reaction.
Austin Resource Recovery curbside customers can schedule an appointment for curbside collection of household hazardous waste. Learn more and schedule a collection.

- Electronic media, such as CDs (remove and throw away jewel cases), DVDs and floppy disks

The Recycle and Reuse Drop-off Center does not accept:
- Furniture
- Mattresses
- Non-recyclable trash
- Styrofoam packing peanuts
- Toilets
Tires
There is a fee to drop off tires. The fee is $6 per tire.
Brush and yard trimmings
Brush and yard trimmings can be dropped off at the Hornsby Bend Biosolids Management Plant. No appointment is necessary at Hornsby.

The Reuse Store
The ReUse Store is where visitors can pick up items in good, usable condition that others have dropped off at the Center. Items in the store are free for everyone, but availability varies.
Items at the Reuse Store may include:
- Art supplies
- Automotive fluids
- Cleaning products
- Household chemicals
Austin Reblend Paint
Austin ReBlend is a 100 percent post-consumer, reblended flat paint (with low VOCs) made from paint collected at the Recycle & Reuse Drop-off Center. The paint is free for individuals, nonprofits and businesses, but an appointment is needed. Colors and availability vary.
Mulch
Mulch is available for pickup for free. You must load the mulch yourself.
