Beat the Heat with AUS: The Sweet Retreat with Summer Cocktails

Over here at the Austin Airport, summertime season means sippin'-time season! If you're traveling through the Texas heat, it would be a crime not to treat yourself to a mixed drink from one of our many restaurants.

Craving a cocktail? Strut on over to either Austin City Market, 24 Diner, or Parkside near Gate 9 if any of these specialty drinks tingle your taste buds:

  • Prickly Pear Mai Tai - A combination of Bacardi Superior Rum, Zacapa 23 Rum, Orange Curacao, Prickly Pear Puree, Orgeat, Citra Sour, and Lime.
  • Guava Margarita - Made with Don Julio Tequila, guava puree, Fever-Tree Sparkling Pink Grapefruit, and fresh lime.
  • Pomegranate Mango Margarita - Mixture of Patron Tequila, sour mix, lime juice, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, mango puree, and grenadine.

Needing a refresh? The Saxon Pub across Gate 16 or Haymaker by Gate 22 can serve you some of summer’s freshest flavors before your flight:

  • Tropics Like It's Hot - A Gin Guava frozen cocktail, made with local Gin from Still Austin.

  • Layover lemonade - Made with Absolut Citron, fresh citrus juices, and garnished with a lemon.
  • Best Selling Margarita - Lalo silver tequila, fresh citrus juices, Triple sec, a splash of soda, and lime wedge garnish.

Feeling bubbly? Not only does Vino Volo serve mimosas all day, but the flavor doesn’t stop at orange, switch it up with grapefruit or cranberry! Plus, the selection of tiny bubbles is pretty solid:

  • Prosecco - Poggio Costa Italy, Prosecco, NV
  • Champagne - Drappier Brut, Champagne, France, NV
  • Brut Rose - Clos La Soleya Spain, Cava, NV

Please note that all the drinks listed above are prepared with alcohol, so a valid form of identification is required when ordering. However, you can request these drinks without alcohol or opt for another delightful treat like ice cream!

Amy's Ice Cream has a variety of delicious options to choose from, whether you're traveling with kids or simply yearning for that classic cold dessert. Check out these cool combos, over by Gate 21:
