The FY 2015-16 Long-Range Capital Improvement Program Strategic Plan is now available online and is being used to inform decisions about current as well as future capital investments that support The Austin Around You.
The LRCSP takes a long-range approach to planning the City’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The CIP is composed of capital improvement projects, which include new construction or renovation of recreation centers and libraries, acquisition of parkland, reconstruction of streets, replacement of water and wastewater lines, creation of urban trails, restoration of creek banks, and the purchase of new City vehicles and information technology networks.
In The Plan
Introduction to the Capital Improvement Program: An easy-to-understand explanation of what the Capital Improvement Program is, how it’s funded and the key drivers for capital investment.
Comprehensive Infrastructure Assessment: Collects citywide infrastructure condition information to help inform future infrastructure needs and future funding opportunities.
Strategic Investment Areas Overlay Analysis: Geographical mapping and analysis of the intersection of City initiatives and capital needs identified by the public and the City.
Rolling Needs Assessment: Annually updated list of long-term and unfunded citywide CIP needs, organized by infrastructure category.
The Planning Commission uses the LRCSP as the vehicle to make its annual recommendation to the City Manager about projects necessary or desirable to implement the comprehensive plan, per its role in the City Charter.
The City will produce an updated Long-Range CIP Strategic Plan each year. We welcome your feedback or questions about the plan. Email us or call (512) 974-7840.
