Austin, Texas – This block party isn't your normal neighborhood summer get together. The St. John's Block Party will include free health screenings, free eye screenings by the Lion's Club and immunizations by APH's Immunizations Unit. Additionally, there will be community resources, food demonstrations, entertainment and face painting for children.
Austin Public Health's Health Equity Unit is hosting the St. John's Block Party on July 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Virginia L. Brown Recreation Center.
"We encourage members of the community to gather together and share in the spirit of the community through the services and resources offered at the St. John's Block Party that keep everyone safe, happy and healthy," community worker Meghan Duncan said.
The Health Equity Unit works to provide community-based programs and services to ensure all residents have the opportunity to reach their full health potential regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, immigration status or income level.
