Austin, Texas – Austin Public Health's Austin Healthy Adolescent Program (AHA) is hosting Teen Summit: Courage to Change on Friday, July 19 from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. This FREE interactive event encourages teens 13-19 years old to engage with their peers while learning about healthy relationships, resume building, creative writing and more. "Teens deserve to be included in conversations about health, skills, and change in their communities," said Austin Healthy Adolescent Program Coordinator Arlene Cornejo.
The Teen Summit features David Garcia, an award-winning motivational speaker and comedian. Garcia teaches youth to maximize their potential, have the courage to find one’s story and ensure success. Additional entertainment includes hip hop duo Ufulu Child and the Speak Piece Poetry Project, whose mission is to provide a safe space for central Texas youth to express themselves and promote their artistic and leadership talents.
AHA engages, empowers and collaborates with communities across Travis County to support youth in taking ownership of their health and working to advance the health of their communities.
