The Hill Country Conservancy (HCC) and the City of Austin are working together to design and build the Violet Crown Trail (VCT), a regional trail system that will begin at Barton Springs Pool in Zilker Park and wind more than 30 miles south into Hays County. The VCT will connect neighborhoods with parks, pools, libraries, schools and shopping centers and create new terrain for hiking, running and pedaling.
This trail will be designed and constructed in two phases: the South Phase and the North phase.
Construction is underway on this 4000 foot-long section of the trail. This trail will begin south of the Hampton Branch Public Library, cross under MoPac, and extend to Convict Hill Rd at Brush Country Rd. In addition, a parking lot will be constructed near the intersection of Convict Hill and Brush Country roads. Click the map below to see the trail alignment.
Project Updates - Nov. 2017
You may have noticed construction on the Violet Crown Trail from the southwest corner of Arbor Trails to Dick Nichols park. Construction is moving along smoothly and some minimal work will be done over the next few weeks to prepare the parking lot, with final paving expected early 2018. We are currently working with TxDOT to see if we can connect to their existing lighting and provide lighting over the parking lot as well.
If you have any comments regarding the design of the trail or the parking lot, please email firstname.lastname@example.org by December 4th, 2017. If you are in support of the design as is, please let us know this as well. Please include your full name and address in your response.
