The Education Department at the ESB-MACC is proud to offer quality cultural arts and education programming for youth and families. At this time we offer arts afterschool programs for youth, digital media workshops for teens and a monthly FREE Saturday program for the whole family. Learn more about our programs below.
Los Bohemios Perdidos Present: Multicultural/Bilingual Music Lessons
Monday-Thursday | 1:30-6:30pm
$55 for one-time lesson
$180 for one month, one class per week for individual lesson
$100 for a Group (between 4-8 students)
Javier Jara of the musical group Los Bohemios Perdidos offers music lessons in the following:
Learn Spanish with Latin folk songs
Lessons taight in Spanish (upon request)
Students will learn Latin American folk songs and rhythms to enhance their multicultural experience, with courses taught at the ESB-MACC. If requested, instruction can be in Spanish exclusively or partially. Come groove with the sounds and dig deep into the roots of Chicanx music and culture by joining us for a 10 week session starting on Sunday July 15th, from 2-5PM. Dust-off your instruments from the shelves and take part in building your community's Bronze Band. Led by seasoned musician and music activist Robert Ojeda, you are sure to find communidad, latinx soul and rhythm! Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity.
Community Healing Garden Workdays

Get your hands dirty as you dive into growing and cultivating traditional Mexican healing herbs. This is a great opportunity for those interested or participating in our Curanderismo series, or for anyone with a general interest in gardening, traditional medicine and healing. Volunteer participants receive hands on experience and will share in the harvest.

Join us for a day filled with FREE art activities. We offer a variety of classes throughout the day; each geared toward either Pre-K, youth (5-12), and teens/adults so the whole family can spend the day in an enriching cultural experience! Classes will be offered at 10am & 11am; FREE LUNCH will be provided at noon. This is a volunteer-run program, if you would like to volunteer for one of these events please contact Lori Navarrete.
The Education Department at the ESB-MACC is excited to offer NEW culture and arts education programs for adults! Starting in September we will offer a monthly program geared towards understanding the culture and history of the indigenous healing tradition of Curanderismo. We also offer FREE Yoga on Thursdays and Saturdays. Upcoming adult music programs include Guitar and Accordion lessons. Stay tuned for more details!
Tejano Genealogy Society of Austin

The Tejano Genealogy Society of Austin (TGSA), a 501(C)3 was first established in 1977 as the Sociedad Genealógica de Austin. The purpose of TGSA is to foster excellence in genealogy through educational programs and projects that preserve, produce and disseminate knowledge of genealogical or historical value.
TGSA preserves Tejano and Mexican-American heritage by:
• Assisting with genealogical research
• Promoting authors who write about Hispanic history
• Promoting awareness of Hispanic history in schools and in our communities
• Facilitating learning by hosting and attending genealogy conferences, historical events, arranging for speakers and presentations
• Continuing to promote the awareness of the Tejano Monument on the grounds of the State Capitol as a symbol of Hispanic contributions to the State of Texas.
