The Austin Police Department continues to investigate the critical incident that occurred on February 10, 2021, at 2907 Rogge Lane. Although the production process is currently underway, APD will not release the video during the extended timeframe. With the release of the January 5, 2021 critical incident occurring last week, APD may now move forward with the video production of the critical incident that occurred on Rogge Lane. At this time, APD is planning to release this critical incident briefing video no later than June 4, 2021.
The officers significantly involved in this critical incident are identified as:
• Officer Jeffrey Hutchison - 8 years of service with APD
• Officer Ryan Nichols - 13 years of service with APD
These officers, who were initially placed on paid administrative leave in line with APD policy, have since been returned to full duty.
The Austin Police Department continues to work to provide a clear and unbiased account of critical incidents to the community. The goal of this effort is to increase transparency and build trust through the release of community briefing videos.
