The Austin Police Department (APD) Homicide Unit continues to seek the community's assistance to find the person or persons who killed 28-year-old Camnik Campbell. Campbell was found deceased near the Barton Springs Pool on Thursday, August 25, 2022. Detectives are actively working on the case and have exhausted all leads. A motive for the killing has not been determined. Based on the information obtained in this case, it appears to be isolated with no threat to the public.

Location: 2201 Barton Springs Rd.
Deceased: Camnik Eugene Campbell, Black male, 01/04/95
Suspect: Unknown
On Thursday, August 25, 2022, at approximately 7:13 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle near Barton Springs Pool at 2201 Barton Springs Rd. Upon arriving on the scene, officers found a deceased male victim, Camnik Eugene Campbell. Campbell was pronounced deceased at 7:42 a.m. by Dr. Escott.
During the on-scene investigation, it was determined Campbell was shot. The investigation is still active and ongoing. Detectives believe this to be an isolated incident with no threat to the public.
**Although the homicide on August 24 at Auditorium Shores and this homicide are isolated incidents, APD will be increasing patrols in all city parks to help deter violent crimes.**
Investigators are asking for the public for assistance and to come forward with any information.
