The Austin Lakes Index (ALI) was developed in 2010 to monitor and assess the chemical, biological, and physical integrity of Austin area lakes (Lake Austin, Lady Bird Lake and Walter E. Long Lake) on an annual basis.

The current ALI score for each lake can be seen here, along with the current sub-index scores that are used in the calculation of the ALI. For further detail, the Lakes Index Methodology is a comprehensive explanation of the program and methodologies for data collection and index calculation.  Changes over time for each sub index (water quality, sediment, habitat, aquatic life, vegetation, eutrophication) and more detailed summaries for each lake are in the FAQs section.
