The Commission for Women recognizes and honors the contributions and achievements of outstanding women and girls during an annual Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Ceremony. After a four-year break, this signature event is returning and the community is invited to join in the celebration.

Nominate

The Commission for Women is now accepting nominations for the 2023 Women’s Hall of Fame. Nominations are open to women and girls who are making/have made contributions to the Greater Austin area and beyond by breaking through barriers and working to advance equity for women and girls within their profession and/or through other forms of public or community service. Nominees may be contemporary or historical.

The Commission for Women defines “women and girls” as individuals who identify as female or non-binary.

The 2023 Women’s Hall of Fame award categories are listed below:

  • Economic Equity: recognizing those who help create or support economic opportunities and resources that enable women and girls to thrive in our community, including but not limited to workplace equity, affordability, housing, childcare, and non-discrimination.
  • Safety: recognizing those who advocate for the safety and security of women and girls, including but not limited to providing services and/or support for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and trafficking.
  • Health: recognizing those who advocate for women and girls’ mental and physical well-being, including but not limited to access to quality and affordable healthcare, menstrual equity, maternal mortality, reproductive and sexual health, and overcoming impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Gender and Race Equity, recognizing those who help address disparities across race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and sexual orientation.
  • Lifetime Achievement, recognizing those who demonstrate repeated outstanding achievements and recognition beyond their work profession for contributions of lasting impact in advancing equity for women and girls.
  • NEW Young Woman of Achievement, recognizing girls (under the age of 25) who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing equity for women and girls in Austin and beyond through extracurricular and academic involvement.

2023 Women’s Hall of Fame nominations can be made online HERE. Nominations must be submitted by Monday, January 16, 2023 at 11:59 PM
