Vouchers for Nutritious Foods.
Every month, WIC provides benefits for purchasing healthy foods.
WIC foods include:
- Iron-fortified infant formula
- Iron-fortified adult cereal
- Fresh fruits and vegetables rich in Vitamin C
- Milk, eggs, and cheese
- Beans and peanut butter
- Other foods, depending on client needs. For example, mothers who are totally breastfeeding their babies without formula also receive additional benefits for purchasing tuna and carrots.
Classes on Healthy Eating.
Group classes are taught by a certified nutritionist and offer information on healthy foods and a healthy diet. Individual nutrition counseling is also offered.
Nutrition topics include:
- Eating healthfully during pregnancy for both mom and baby
- Healthy foods for infants and children, including happy children, picky eaters, how to watch your child's weight, and lots more
- How to get the most out of your food dollars and WIC vouchers
- Valuable parenting skills
- Stages of child development
- The importance of childhood immunizations
- Tips for pregnant teens
- Common infant problems, such as colic, constipation, and crying
- Walking with WIC
Online nutrition education classes.
Some people can complete their class online. Ask your clinic if you are eligible for this online class. Go to www.texaswic.org to complete the class and print your certificate with the class code. You must bring the class code to your next appointment to prove you took the class.

Mom's Place offers free breastfeeding services for the WIC Program's Special Supplemental Nutrition program. Services include:
- Lactation (breastfeeding) consultation
- Free weight check for baby
- Breast pumps (electric or non-electric) for WIC clients when necessary.
