How it Works

Form a group of friends and family ready to walk. You can schedule times to meet up; the whole group does not have to meet up, and you can meet up with a few people who have similar schedules. Over the 10 weeks, you keep track of your activity points daily and report your points for the week and your grand total of points at the end. Depending on the amount of points you or your team achieves, you can when prizes and celebrate your new start on the road to better health!

  • Group Leaders 

Group leaders are needed to help motivate the team, to help their teammates, and to provide encouragement and support. Make that difference in your community by forming a team and encouraging them to become more physically active. Here are the steps to forming your team:

  • Collect Registration and Release of Liability Forms
    • Review Release of Liability with all members
    • Make sure forms are completed
  • Meet 1-on-1 with Walk Texas Coordinator (Email Coordinator to schedule a time)
    • Bring group forms
    • Receive Group Leader T-Shirt and other incentives (while supplies last)
  • Begin 10-Week Challenge
  • Forms can be found on the Healthy Places, Healthy People website.
  • Participants 

The following steps for participants can be applied to team members or participants who would like to take on the challenge individually.

  • Complete Registration and Release of Liability Forms and turn in to Group Leader
    • Think about your weekly goal
  • Decide schedule: when group or buddies meet
  • Choose at least two buddies from group             
  • Write down activities and points each day, track them weekly
  • Keep your eye on the prize because, depending on your grand total, you can win medals for your participation
  • Forms can be found on the Healthy Places, Healthy People website.
