2024: A Year of Milestones at AUS!

Y’all… what a year! As we look back at 2024, we’re feeling pretty dang proud of everything we accomplished together at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). From big-time travel stats to even bigger taco sales (yes, seriously), here’s a look at the highlights that made 2024 one for the books.

21 Million Passengers and Counting

We hit a huge milestone: 21.1 million passengers flew through AUS in 2024! That makes it our second busiest year ever. Whether you were heading out on a weekend getaway or welcoming loved ones home, you helped keep AUS buzzing from gate to gate. This milestone shows just how much our city is growing and how committed we are to getting you where you want to go, both near and far.

New Destinations, New Adventures

Got a passport? Because 2024 gave you three new international escapes, and they’re all just one flight away from Austin:

• San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) – Southwest Airlines

• Monterrey, Mexico (MTY) – Viva

• Montreal, Canada (YUL) – Air Canada

That’s three new reasons to dream big, pack light, and explore.

Journey With AUS Took Off

Our airport is growing and we’re making sure it grows the Austin way. In 2024, we made major moves with Journey With AUS, our expansion program focused on improving your travel experience.

We’re talking:

• Breaking ground for the West Infill and Midfield Taxiway

• Council approval for the future Concourse B and Arrivals & Departures Hall

• Finishing the procurement phase for all major projects
   

Translation: smoother traffic, more gates, and even more of that Austin charm you love. This is how we’re building for the future while keeping AUS authentically Austin.

More Beats, Bites & Flights

Okay but let’s talk food. The taco tally is in and… over 1 million tacos were sold at AUS in 2024. Yeah, we’re serious. We also served up:

• 100,000+ pounds of brisket

• 9,000+ Tyler’s t-shirts

• 7,000+ Keep Austin Weird shirts

We don’t just fly local, we eat, shop, and rep local, too.

Keeping It Very Austin

AUS wouldn’t be Austin without live music, bold art, and a whole lot of heart and we delivered big in 2024:

• 1,400+ live music performances through our Live Music in the Air program
   

• 15 new temporary art exhibits by Central Texas creatives
   
•  100+ community events, from school tours to neighborhood pop-ups
   

• Helped raise $14,000 and donated two truckloads of supplies to local organizations
   

We’re proud to be more than an airport we’re a stage, a gallery, and a community hub.

Thanks for flying with us, shopping with us, eating with us, and dancing with us this year. 2024 was full of milestones, and we’re just getting warmed up. Big things are coming to AUS! 💙🛫
