In December of 2024, the Austin Police Department (APD) Narcotics Support Unit began an investigation into Albert Garcia, 38 years of age, after information was received that he was distributing cocaine in the Austin area. Research showed Garcia was on supervised federal probation for distribution of cocaine until July of 2026. Detectives were able to obtain surveillance video that showed Garcia meeting with persons known to distribute narcotics in the Austin area, and engaging in suspected narcotics transactions with them. Additionally, Garcia was observed making suspected narcotics transactions with other persons. Investigative efforts yielded probable cause to obtain a search warrant for Garcia’s residence.
On March 25, 2025, at approximately 8 a.m., the search warrant was executed at Garcia’s residence located in the 8500 block of Birmingham Drive. Both Garcia and his girlfriend were detained during the execution of the search warrant. The search yielded $19,294 in cash, 1.2 pounds (548 grams) of fentanyl, and 1.1 pounds (507 grams) of cocaine.
Garcia was arrested on two counts of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance >400 grams. He is also being referred to federal prosecution on these new charges.
