On March 4, 2025, at approximately 1:07 p.m. Austin Police Department (APD) Officers responded to a collision at the intersection of E SH71 EB and Presidential Blvd. involving a sedan and an Austin Fire Department (AFD) Engine. The fire engine was responding to an emergency incident, with its emergency lights and sirens activated, when it collided with a sedan at the intersection.

The four firetruck personnel were transported for evaluation and later released with minor injuries. Both the driver and passenger of the sedan were also taken to a local hospital, where the passenger was later pronounced deceased.

No criminal charges have been filed.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 10th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 10 fatalities. This investigation is ongoing. On the date of this crash in 2024, 12 fatal crashes resulted in 12 deaths.
