The Aquatic Division of the Austin Parks and Recreation Department is now gearing up for the 2025 swim season, hiring and training lifeguards, preparing for the annual maintenance closure of Barton Springs Pool, and announcing that season passes will be available for purchase.

Lifeguard Hiring and Training
The Aquatic Division is now hiring hundreds of lifeguards starting at $21.63 per hour. Training is ongoing and there are lots of opportunities during spring break, March 16-22. New and returning lifeguards must fill out job applications and complete hiring paperwork before they can register for training. Lifeguards must be 15 years of age or older. Barton Springs Pool Closure: Plan Ahead
Barton Springs Pool will close for routine annual maintenance from Saturday, March 1 through Friday, March 14. During this time, patrons can visit other year-round pools across the city. For current operating hours, visit AustinTexas.gov/Pools.

Season Passes on Sale Now!
Season passes for the 2025 swim season are available for purchase starting Monday, February 10. Pools begin charging entry fees on Saturday, March 8. Season passes are valid through October 31, 2025, and also include parking at Zilker Park. A season pass is the easiest way to enjoy Austin's favorite swimming pools all season long!
