On Saturday, December 14, 2024, at approximately 2:35 a.m., the Austin Police Department (APD) was notified by the Kyle Police Department that a male victim had been brought to a Hays County Hospital with stab wounds. A friend who drove the victim to the hospital reported that the victim had been involved in an altercation at an undisclosed location on 6th Street. At 3:02 a.m., Kyle PD called back to inform APD that the male victim was deceased.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The investigation revealed that the victim was in the 100 block of 6th Street downtown when his group got into an altercation with another group. This confrontation escalated, resulting in the victim being stabbed. Persons of interest have been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
