On Friday, December 6, 2024, at approximately 3:50 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) Officers responded to the 1400 block of Rutland Drive for a crash between a single vehicle and a pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene, was cooperative, and was not impaired.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 83rd fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 88 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2023, 82 fatal crashes resulted in 85 fatalities.
