On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at approximately 11:18 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) Officers responded to a single vehicle collision in the 500 block of East Koenig Lane. The driver, later identified as Samuel J. Rodriguez Jr., was pronounced deceased at the scene.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 82nd fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 87 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2023, 82 fatal crashes resulted in 85 fatalities.
