On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at approximately 8 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between two motor vehicles in the intersection of Dessau Road and Collinwood West Drive. The driver of one of the vehicles was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced deceased on November 23, 2024 as a result of the injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the second vehicle was not injured, remained on the scene, and is cooperating with the investigation. 

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 80th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 85 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2023, 76 fatal crashes resulted in 79 fatalities.
