On Saturday, October 26, 2024, at approximately 11:21 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) Officers responded to a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 4500 block of S IH 35 SVRD NB. The unidentified pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the vehicle was not injured, remained on scene, and is cooperating with the investigation.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 73rd fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 78 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2023, 74 fatal crashes resulted in 77 fatalities.
