On Saturday, October 19, 2024, at approximately 4:50 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) Officers responded to a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the intersection of S US 183 Highway SB and Burleson Road. The unidentified pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the vehicle was not injured, remained on scene, and is cooperating with the investigation.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 72nd fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 77 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2023, 73 fatal crashes resulted in 76 fatalities.
