On Friday, October 4, 2024, at approximately 5:15 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a single vehicle collision located at the intersection of East US 290 HWY SVRD WB and East Parmer Lane. The driver, later identified as Guillermo Lagunas-Hernandez, was transported to a local hospital. He eventually succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on October 6, 2024.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 70th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 75 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2023, 69 fatal crashes resulted in 72 fatalities.
