On Sunday, August 4, 2024, at approximately 2:24 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers assigned to the downtown Austin entertainment district (6th Street) heard and immediately responded to the sound of a gunfire near the intersection of East 7th and Trinity streets. Austin Police officers located a male victim, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (A/TCEMS) arrived on scene and transported the victim to the hospital, where he is still being treated.
APD Aggravated Assault detectives and crime scene specialists responded to process the scene. During the course of the investigation, information was gathered by investigators that there was a large disturbance between multiple people prior to the shooting. At this time, the large disturbance is believed to be directly related to the shooting. Through the course of the investigation, investigators have located images of the persons of interest involved in the disturbance and are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying these persons of interest.
The Austin Police Department is asking the public for any information related to this shooting or the persons of interest. The Austin Police Department also believes there to be outstanding videos of this fight and/or the shooting that could lead to the identification of the persons of interest.
