On Sunday, August 11, 2024, at approximately 8:34 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash in the 7000 block of South IH 35 northbound proper. The driver and a passenger that were traveling in the vehicle were both pronounced deceased on the scene.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 55th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 59 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2023, 57 fatal crashes resulted in 60 fatalities.
