On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 11:09 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash, which involved a single motorcycle at the intersection of East 45th and Duval Streets. The motorcyclist, Gordon Yang, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased on July 12, 2024.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 42nd fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 44 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2023, 52 fatal crashes resulted in 52 fatalities.
