On Wednesday, April 10, at approximately 8:42 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at the 2300 block of South Lamar Boulevard. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene, was not impaired, and is cooperating with the investigation.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 22nd fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 22 fatalities for the year. This investigation is ongoing. On the date of this crash in 2023, 29 fatal crashes resulted in 29 fatalities.
