On Monday, April 1, 2024, Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a robbery call at the Bank of America branch located at 1144 Airport Boulevard.  The suspect, who was captured on surveillance video, presented a note to the teller, demanding money and threatening to kill the teller. The suspect fled the bank on foot when unable to obtain any money.

Officers later located the suspect, John Ancira, at his residence where a search warrant was also executed, and evidence of the bank robbery seized. Ancira was arrested and booked into the Travis County Jail. He is charged with Robbery by Threat, a Second Degree Felony.
