Deceased: Christopher Hernandez, White male, 12/13/1989
On Saturday, February 24, 2024, at approximately 2:11 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a shooting call at 7801 N Lamar Boulevard. The caller stated that he had shot someone in self-defense. Officers arrived on scene and located an unresponsive man, later identified as Christopher Hernandez, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts, Hernandez was pronounced deceased on scene at 2:34 p.m.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene. During the on-scene investigation, it was determined that Hernandez had been slashing the callers’ tires with a knife. When the caller confronted Hernandez, Hernandez threatened the caller with the knife. The caller subsequently shot Hernandez. The caller remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
The investigation is still ongoing and no arrest has been made at this time.
