On Sunday, February 4, 2024, at approximately 4:18 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash in the 600 block of West Anderson Lane. Preliminary investigation revealed that for unknown reasons, the passenger of a vehicle exited the car while it was still in motion. The passenger was then hit by another vehicle, which left the scene without stopping. The passenger was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the passenger’s vehicle remained on scene, was not impaired, and is cooperating with the investigation.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin's 3rd fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 3 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2023, 10 fatal crashes resulted in 10 fatalities.
